Which ones do you guys like? Security is more important to me than features, but it does need to be able to handle both anonymous (ro) & account (rw) access. Chrooted would be great. I've used ProFTPd in the past and been happy with it, but I thought I'd see what other people's experiences were.
Thanks!

vsftpd
me too, but mostly because that's what ships with Redhat/Fedora. I honestly couldn't tell you how it fares security wise; the only time I'm willing to even use ftp is when I absolutely trust the client(s) and the network, so worrying about buffer overflows or whatever isn't a concern.

It would be helpful if you could elaborate a little more Chad. I know which options are available; what I'm trying to find out is why one would choose one over the others. ;-P
It's for use on my LAN, which a few people besides me have access too. I do trust them, but I'd still rather not have my box get owned through the ftpd if someone else sneaks in there.

I assume you know to stay away from wu-ftpd.

Hehe, yeah.
Mainly I'm looking at proftpd, pureftpd, and vsftpd. One advantage that proftpd and pureftpd have over vsftpd (AFAICT) is that they can use LDAP for authentication without having to fight with PAM. I do use LDAP, so that would be nice. However, it's something I'm willing to compromise on if vsftpd is clearly superior in some other way.

vsftpd by far it is the ftpd for security and it has chrooting and anon/user access (I think haven't used it in ages) but I use to use it and loves it
